Welcome to the website of St Thomas Catholic Voluntary Academy in Ilkeston. St Thomas’ is a lovely and friendly school situated in the parish of Our Lady and St Thomas of Hereford in Ilkeston. We have 237 very kind and welcoming children at the school; excellent teachers and excellent facilities.

We are the St Thomas Catholic Life Committee. It is our job to lead and support our fellow pupils as well as the other members of our school and parish community. We work together as part of the chaplaincy team.

We meet weekly and Focus on the Word of the week. We gather in prayer focusing on the Gospel and as our mission create different ways of understanding the scriptures for the classes.

We monitor prayer areas around the school and ensure they are kept fresh and up to date.

We make sure that as a school we are helping the community around us and our wider community by contributing to charities.

Our chaplaincy team aim to offer all children the opportunity to participate in child led prayer.

We plan, prepare and deliver different forms of prayer each week in accordance to the liturgical year and word of the week.

New sacred spaces are set up each week inviting children to take part in spontaneous prayer.

You may see us around school in prayer groups, setting up masses and fundraising.
