At St Thomas, we have 35 children in each year group – and a maximum of 30 children are legally allowed to be in a class in EYFS/ Infants.
Because of this, some children are in a Reception class and some a mixed Reception/ Year 1 class. All get the same opportunities to access a full, rich, play based curriculum. Much of the Reception/ Year 1 curriculum overlaps with the Year 1/2 curriculum.
Reception class organise their learning slightly differently.
All Reception aged children are assessed against the Early Learning Goals at the end of the Year.
