We are very lucky at St Thomas’ to have a very supportive and active PTA.
The PTA organise regular events including discos, fashion shows, sponsored events and a bi-annual summer fair. They also collect, wash and then re-sell old school uniform at great prices.
To maintain the events that are organised, which raise valuable funds for school, requires a little bit of time and can be great fun! To get involved, why not come to a meeting or volunteer to help at an event.
Recent donations to school include £2500 towards some greatly needed guided reading books, £400 to buy a French scheme to support the teaching of French and £10,000 towards helping pay for some of the costs of the recent extension. They also subsidise educational trips. Next the PTA will be buying some much needed equipment for playtimes and lunchtimes and seeds to re-plant the class planters.
The impact of the events organised by the PTA can’t be under-estimated in raising the community spirit in school and the funds raised really do impact on children’s enjoyment of school and the quality of the resources they use.
