At St Thomas CVA, we have 35 children in each year group in our Key Stage 2 (Junior) classes, and a maximum of 30 children per class in our EYFS/ Key Stage 1 (Infant) classes.
Because of this, some children are in a Reception class and some a mixed Reception/ Year 1 class. All get the same opportunities to access a full, rich, play based curriculum. Much of the Reception/ Year 1 curriculum overlaps with the Year 1/2 curriculum.
Reception class organise their learning slightly differently.
All Reception aged children are assessed against the Early Learning Goals at the end of the Year.
